Vacancy details (Discipline-wise)

Eligibility Criteria

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) in one of the seven disciplines listed above.
• Minimum marks: 65% aggregate across all semesters (as per notification) irrespective of weightage applied by the University/Institute.
• Age: Maximum 28 years (born on or after 06-12-1997 as per wording). Departmental candidates: upper age limit 45 years.
• Age relaxation: As per Government of India / SAIL rules for reserved categories.

Pay & Benefits

• Basic pay for Management Trainees (Technical): ₹50,000 per month within the pay range ₹50,000–160,000.
• After successful completion of 1 year of training: appointed as Assistant Manager (E-1 grade) with salary band mentioned (₹60,000–180,000).
• Dearness allowance (DA), perquisites under cafeteria approach, Provident Fund, Gratuity and other allowances as per company rules.
• Additional benefits: leave encashment, HRA / housing facilities, medical facilities for employees and dependents (as applicable).
• CTC: Approx. ₹16–17 lakhs per annum at minimum of E-1 grade (excludes PRP, location allowances, etc.).

• Computer Based Test (CBT) (Tentative): January – February 2026

Selection Procedure

The selection will be through a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Group Discussion (GD) and Interview. Final merit will be prepared on aggregated scores.

Computer Based Test (CBT)

• Total marks: 200 (two sections).
• Section I: Domain knowledge (100 marks) – duration 40 minutes.
• Section II: Aptitude Test (100 marks) – duration 80 minutes. (Quantitative Aptitude, English, Reasoning, General Awareness – 25 marks each).
• Minimum qualifying percentile per section: UR/EWS – 50th percentile; SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD – 40th percentile.
• Shortlisting for GD & Interview: 1:3 ratio (discipline & category wise).
• Exam centers: Major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Jaipur, etc. SAIL may add/remove centers based on registrations. Change of center requests will not be accepted after final submission.

Final Weightage

• CBT: 75%
• Group Discussion: 10%
• Interview: 15%

In case of tie, preference shall be given to higher CBT marks. If still tied, higher marks in qualifying degree (B.E./B.Tech) will be considered.
